Os longas Moonlight e American Honey lideram com seis indicações cada e se aproximam como fortes concorrentes aos prêmios da Academia. O brasileiro Aquarius, de Kleber Mendonça Filho, protagonizado por Sônia Braga, concorre como filme estrangeiro. A premiação acontecerá no dia 24 de fevereiro de 2017.
